". . . so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light." --Coll. 11:10-12
"Good works" . . . God created BEFOREHAND . . . that you should walk in them. . . .
This is a profound revelation. They are not something you need to think up, concoct, devise, figure out so much as see them before you and move into them. . . . He has made the way for you to go. (see Eph. 2:10)
And He has made it so that such works will bear fruit. That also you need not analyze and vie about.
It's all there. . . . But you are to walk, to move into His service "in a manner worthy of the Lord."
And along with this you are to increase in the knowledge of God. He is not something you attain and then rest rest on your laurels about. It ought not be that . . . once upon a time . . . you were searching and striving and learning of God, then "find" Him, then . . . that's it. But instead you "find" Him . . . and continue finding Him, ever increasing in knowledge about Who He is, what He has done, does and will do, a student of His ways and means and character and reality; which is venture that begins with your initial search, then goes on through eternity . . . as He is so immense, so profound, so wondrous, so wonderful, so extensive, so intimate . . . that being engaged with Him will be a thrill and joy unending. . . .
Giving thanks always . . . as you realize . . . according to the knowledge you've gained . . . that He has "qualified" you "to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light"!
All the false teachings throughout the world . . . would have you "qualify" yourself. They teach that in some fashion or another YOU come up the works that EARN a Godly inheritance.
But the rare treasure of Biblical Christianity's teaching is found in the revelation that GOD is the One--and the ONLY ONE--Who does the "qualifying", the "earning", the good work to make you worthy of Himself. And how could it be otherwise?
Oh that our small, self-serving minds could grasp the magnitude of His causeless Graciousness! It is such that multitudes, choirs of glorious angelic beings sing His praises every moment and it never gets old!
Look out and gaze ahead. . . . Then move to walk in that path where you likewise are constantly in an existential state where the glory and graciousness of God blazes before you . . . such that you too are ever singing His praises, for real, in your heart. . . .
