The Privilege of Prayer

I'm ever astounded at the ungratefulness . . . and sense of entitlement; as if God owed something and was indebted to do or provide such-and-such. . . . Honestly, I find it disgusting, abhorrent.

Meanwhile, who appreciates the privilege of prayer?  Yes, the privilege--the unmerited privilege given to a human being to be able to pray to the Creator of the universe and all what's in it.

A soul must be veritably dead to not realize the fantastic offering it is to be able to communicate and speak to God!  Do the rocks get to do this?  Do deer, flies, fish, monkeys?  No, it is given to humanity to be able to pray to the Creator.  And to worship Him; what a privilege!

Yet the grouser goes about complaining of not getting this or that--baubles which will pass away to dust or ash.  As if, just by being born, a kingdom was owed . . . or at least many comforts.

And this . . . for the one who hates God.  Who doesn't pray or only does so selfishly minded looking to get; not to thank or appreciate.  The rebel spits in the face of his Father and then demands whatever the Father has as a right.

Who will acknowledge the privilege, the ability to pray to God?  Who employs this priceless gift daily, or better yet, many times a day?

I understand and appriciate your ideas.

Every time I pray, I should really "realize the fantastic offering it is to be able to communicate and speak to God!"

Question: When you write this:"as if God owed something and was indebted to do or provide such-and-such."... I think of this: can we at least remind God of His promises ?

Brother Thomas thank you for your Spirit led comments. I learned of your through Zeph Daniel's blog and I am very grateful that God has led me to lone voices in the Wilderness. Like others who walk this narrow path, I too am often experience slices of hell. What a ride. May God continually bless you and your family, and may HIS
Divine Sword be ever protecting you and be present over those you love. Take care.

Sincerely,

Gina Williams
