It's Monday, a new week . . . we got snow up on the mountain peaks last week . . . fall's a'comin' . . . then winter. . . . There's nothing new under the sun; "wherefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new."
If nothing ever feels new; if new vistas of understanding never happen, then you have got to wonder, "am I really in Christ?" If roteness, staleness, dryness, irritable angst are your constant companions, chances are good you are not applying yourself to the things of God. A good, regular dose of The Word is the prescription for that. . . .
The phrase for the day: "For your good . . . and God's glory."
Not as an empty platitude, but experienced, believed and having faith in . . . that truth . . . !
I finally got up a couple of new videos to my Youtube channel. . . . I've got several more to add, but it is so hard to get to anything these days besides the daily rigamarole. Aye, but we press on . . . cheerfully . . . with occasionally inserts of dark, gallows humor, heh. . . .
Jackson's band is playing the big show this week, Thursday. That will be when they open up for the popular national "indie-folk" act who's coming to town, "The Head And The Heart". It will be downtown, outside at our central city park, for the "Twilight Summer Concert Series" which usually draws crowds into the several thousands. . . .
The videos I put up include some clips of Jack's band when we saw them down south in St. George Utah at club there . . . and some footage of me painting a banner for one of their shows . . . and their amazing, cute dog (our "granddog") "Banjo". . . .
If you click on the Youtube link here on the sidebar, they should be available to check out. . . .
-"A" . . . the t-shirt is truly shortly on the way for your fan daughter. . . .
-LL thanks for the reading update.... If you can find it, I really think you should check out
"The Age Of Martyrs: Christianity from Diocletian (284) to Constantine (337)" by
Abbot Giuseppe Ricciotti. . . . It was a convicting, astounding, glorifying to God kind of read on that subject, well-handled I thought covering not just the martyrdom's but the theological issues involved which still remain relevant today. Especially the matter of the Donatists--those who seemed to compromise with the powers-to-be during the persecution, then wanted to be re-admitted to the Body. This is an issue that I think we will be seeing soon ourselves, up close and personal. . . .
-Oh, and _____ . . . re the matter of the multi-level marketing company locally here you queried about......I am still trying to get more details... but I can say in general, "MLM's" are huge here in Mormon "Zion" . . . and nearly all of them turn out bad. "Get rich quick" schemes abound in this culture, which you find as a theme running all the way back to Joseph Smith and his epitome scheme of creating the supposed "restored Gospel". . . . He himself was constantly getting involved in shady land deals, banking schemes, and other dubious investment rackets . . . always hiding from the law . . . and as a matter of course, I, we, and most sensible people around here never fall for the ubiquitous MLM's that pop up here and especially in their church congregations where the scam artists love to go to fleece the flock under cover ecclesiastical protection and wiles........
