So, then after a day of listening to various sermons, debates, apologetic presentations while I work, when I get home we have dinner and afterwords watch 2-3 different Christian television programs--more teaching, preaching or biblical exegesis, Isaac, my wife and I. We do have one or secular shows we like to watch for sheer entertainment, such as the series Grimm when it's on, but mostly we have no interest in the blasphemous, degrading slop offered by the networks. Come bedtime, perhaps a bit more reading, then prayer and connection to His Spirit, to end the day.
That is the ration pretty much Monday through Saturday. Sunday is the day we all look forward to--a special day of rest and worship for the Lord, as He commanded and usually our oldest son, Alexander drives "down" in the morning from his place about 50 miles away, to join us in our circuit of church-going. We play Christian music on the way, to help remain focused on Him, and go first to one fairly large but "down-to-earth" congregation whose Pastor is legit and not one of the goofy seeker-sensitive/purpose-driven types . . . then we drive further into town, to the Univ. of Utah, where we hear the Word preached and receive a more in-depth exegesis, line-by-line study . . . .
I am bringing this all up, just to share what we have found ourselves doing, not out of any sense of obligation or duty or legalistic motive, but from sheer Spirit-led desire and interest, and we all agree that--as the times have become more treacherous and the assaults on the Godly-minded have become full-frontal and on every flank--it has felt and seemed necessary to, indeed, so immerse ourselves in the things of God, that the enemy is better shut out and the dangers of "drifting" away from the Spirit are greatly lessened.
I can't imagine being a Believer at this point in time, and NOT being highly diligent and determined and practiced at now avoiding the onslaught of seductions and distractions from the world, by being constantly engaged in His Spirit and Word . . . as far as is practically possible (which more than many realize or attempt) . . . .
Thanks for your concerns regarding ie., "Bible school" and seminary . . . . No worries there. For one thing, I expect it far more likely to be sitting in a Soviet-American gulag than any Bible school in the future . . . heh . . . .
Also, one of the areas included in my current (Spirit-led?) "program" of study . . . IS the history and manner of corruption of the seminaries and Bible schools and all of the dangerous, heretical "churches" and modern "Christian" movements that have resulted. For instance, one of the most disturbing trends I have learned of in the "church growth" model, used by people like Peter Drucker, Andy Stanley, Mark Driscoll, Stever Furtick, Rick Warren, Perry Noble, Creflo Dollar, James McDonald, T.D.Jakes . . . to name just a few . . . is how it is based on a frighteningly dangerous FASCISTIC model derived from such (anti-Christ) humanist philosophers as Rousseau, Nietzsche, Hegel . . . . In watching this new conglomeration of "word faith", "seeker-sensitive", "emergent","church growth", "new apostolic" ecumenical trend . . . it is alarmingly clear to see how the one-world (fascistic/anti-Christ) religion is starting to shape up . . . . When this wicked religious beast joins hands with the beast of likewise developing totalitarian government . . . the stage is set for the prophesied days of persecution of the REAL Church and Body of Christ . . . .
All in all . . . it is not a time to be slack in the things of God, but a time to deepen and strengthen and purify and serve . . . under the caring and protective guidance of the Holy Spirit and King Jesus, amen!
