[C'mon, whattaya say? . . . :) . . . lets clamber up to the tippy-top shelf . . . and have a look around . . . . That's where the rare stuff is kept . . . meet for special occasions. What special occasion? The blessed loving grace of existence, which is happening TODAY! :)]
The sovereignty of God is active, outgoing love, taking the form of a servant.
There is no escaping reality. Reality is . . . is that the self existent I AM deigned (condescended) to create a universe . . . and populate . . . with diverse, complex, beautifully intricate creatures and accompanying myriad accouterments and settings.
It was an act of love . . . .
Because . . . He IS love--love is His essence, His very nature . . . . So, whatever He does comes from love and goes back to love . . . .
Love is made manifest, made known . . . in relationship with ANOTHER. There must be another . . . for love to act and to reveal It's/His glory.
For instance, what if the Great I AM . . . had not created anything, but just existed . . . singularly, alone, with His nature of love intact, Self contained . . . ?
Nobody would know. Because there wouldn't be anybody to see the Self-existent glory of such a Being.
So, God--The I AM . . . . . moved . . . acted . . . created . . . "others" . . . to witness the glory of God, of this astounding, self-existent, eternal, uncreated Being. It was a loving action of SERVICE . . . for and to . . . those "others" . . . to create in them . . . and as them . . . separate identities, personalities and consciousness . . . so that they (we) are able to look back on God . . . AND WITNESS . . . HIS GLORY!
So, from the foundation--even before the foundation . . . EVERYTHING . . . proceeded as an act of love. God wanted witnesses to His glory--TO SHARE HIMSELF--and we were gifted, purely by that gracious act . . . to be able to live, to exist . . . as semi-independent beings . . . for the glory of God.
When the Christian says "I do (this or that) to glorify God" . . . this is what is meant. There is an understanding . . . that BUT FOR the very foundational gracious, loving act of God creating a universe populated by "others" . . . there is no other ultimate purpose to life. This is where it started . . . and this is where it returns--giving, witnessing . . . glory to God. For instance, the reality . . . that HE IS . . . and that His nature is love . . . and that He always was and always will be, and that He is a living and personal God . . . . .and that we are allowed to know Him and even be in His presence and have Him in us! . . . that . . . .
Well, it is just so astounding and magnificent and wondrous and beautiful and incredible . . . that an all-encompassing word and concept tries to approach and capture it: GLORIOUS!
Since . . . from the "beginning" . . . His move, His act . . . was to share the glory with "others"--to spread the Self-existent glory around--then EVERYTHING that has proceeded since . . . is a grace and an act of love.
When, then, we get bogged down and lost . . . in side pursuits, which only pertain to our temporary situation--which are self-centered, self-focused . . . as if we have some independent life apart from His original purpose and act . . . then we are simply showing ourselves to be insane, and apart from REALITY. Rather than being a part of HIS reality, which is the ONLY reality . . . we delusionally think we have some other thing to be doing . . . other than that for which we were created in the first place--which is to give and to share in the glory of God.
Of course we don't deserve it! How could we? Once we didn't exist, and now we do. HE decided to make us, we didn't. But, completely dependent on His gracious, creative act of love--we exist for the purpose for which we were created and none other.
Now, it would not be quite as glorious, so-to-speak, if God had made us so that His glory was already instantly obvious to us--where we were already perfect and "one" in Spirit with Him. If that were the case, there would have been no point to creation, to making "others", to making creatures. He already was in His Self-existent glory and so, creating a bunch of mini-Me's . . . would not have provided the opportunity for love to act, to move, to be returned. It would have just been, so-to-speak, God loving Himself, by Himself, with none to see any glory.
So, within His sovereignty . . . He created the real possibility . . . of "others" . . . who, relatively independently . . . could experience separation for a time and the relative lack of God . . . so that they (we) could then CHOOSE to see God, recognize His glory, obey His will (as opposed to ours) . . . and thus, in and through the very process . . . of all this . . . give MORE glory to God, to Who and What He is!
Ultimately, there is really nothing else going on here. Everything we are . . . . Everything that we do . . . . All that there is . . . . All that there ever was and will be . . . is but the outpouring . . . of His nature, which is Love, in action, revealing His infinite glory!
And so, when you get bogged down and grumbling . . . about your tedious, minuscule, myopic, self-serving problems and complaints . . . realize that this is just an insane, delusional and wandering mind talking, yammering away . . . lost in the weeds . . . .
Instead, ask yourself . . . if what you are doing--what you are about to do--what you say and how you respond in deeds . . . to this gracious, profound, loving GIFT of life: Does this give glory to God? Or is this just me mucking around in the pit of self-infatuation, trying to scrape together (from dying rot) some glory for my pitiful, God-avoiding self?
God's very act of creation . . . was an act of service. Hence, the type . . . of GOD AS SERVANT. Hence, why He commands US to be like Him and serve others. Service and love . . . are at the foundation of our intended being--why, so-to-speak, we were made in the first place. Our ultimate happiness and exaltation is found in finally RELINQUISHING to that purpose for which we were designed: To give glory to God by our love and service.
When we stray from that, or if we have never yet realized it . . . we are little better than hysterical, deranged monkeys . . . chattering away, swinging about, pointlessly busy, going nowhere . . . yet causing a ruckus wherever we go.
OR . . . . . . . . . . We are to be the Children of the Most High--sanctified "others", reflecting . . . as witnesses . . . the glory of God!
