At The Crossroads (pt. 9)

God's "love" of freedom, which is like a respect for freedom, for free will, personal choice . . . is big.

Setting aside for a moment that we may believe HE does everything and is Sovereign--meaning that, it is only by His will that anything goes on . . . lives, dies, changes, . . . even CHOOSES . . . . Like where I am fond of saying things like, "when you find God--when He finds you"  . . . or, "He will not lose a single one!" . . . "if you are His, He WILL find you and bring you Home" . . . .

. . . as if . . . there is no free will involved and it is only a matter of predestination that some are saved and others are not . . . looking to the line: "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:44)

Which, I do indeed believe . . . having experienced . . . where I know that . . . if it weren't for God opening my eyes to the truth . . . and drawing me to Him, onward, onward . . . giving me the inspiration and desire to even SEARCH for Him . . . I can tell quite plainly that I would have been forever lost, blind, dead, subject completely to the passions and dreams of natural . . . human . . . worldly life . . . .

And I've seen what look to be miraculous moves by God in others.  Others who before . . . knew NOTHING about Him and could not, would not and never cared for the subtleties of genuine spiritual discernment and promptings . . . and then pursuings . . . .

No, these were people of an almost animal-like cognition, concerned only with the most base wants and needs of unconscious pleasure drives . . . passion pressures . . . "dumb" habits formed in childhood, programmed by equally unconscious, society-pleasing parents . . . .

And then, out of the blue, here comes God . . . usually via some tragic event or big life change . . . and that brutish person . . . begins to awaken . . . truly like a resplendent butterfly suddenly breaking the dull, encasing shell . . . to fly away to new heights, a completely different creature . . . .

Such a transformation is truly like a blind person becoming able to see!  It IS that profound, if not more . . . .

Anyway . . . setting aside . . . for a moment . . . the belief and apparent revelation . . . that . . . ultimately GOD is sovereign . . . in ALL things . . . including our decision to be saved and give our lives over to Jesus (where He gives us through grace even the desire . . . and finally ability to do so)--THERE IS ALSO the whole example of His creating . . . and allowing . . . most prominently . . . a measure . . . of our "free will".

This very world seems to be an intricate laboratory for free will exercise nonetheless.  There is a mystery in this which has always fascinated me.  In a pinch, I rely on a sort of "sameness AND difference" concept--that there exists what looks to be a paradox from our viewpoint here in this time and space, but in the "heavenly" realm, it is perfectly understandable with no contradiction or oxymoronic-like taint.

We DO have free will . . . AND . . . despite our utterly dependent state God DOES choose us and bring us in.
We DO have a role to play . . . in our assent and acceptance to the Gospel . . . AND it is also the fact that it is simply the Lord's own sovereign will who He chooses to be heirs with Him in the Kingdom of God.

So . . . listen:  If and when the Holy Spirit finds you . . . and by all accounts you have mentally considered the message of the Bible and the person of the Lord, Jesus Christ . . . and intellectually have consented that, yes, He IS the Saviour . . . and the only way--the truth and the life . . . .

Well, right about then . . . before you have "crossed the River" as I put it . . . .

Where you are standing at the brink . . . one foot in the old you and old world . . . with your head peaking into the Promised Land . . . of dying to self and finally living in and for and by Jesus . . . .

There IS a sliver . . . so-to-speak . . . of FREE WILL CHOOSING . . . you yet must make . . . to finalize the rebirth.  It is an acceptance IN YOUR HEART . . . a relenting . . . and a final surrender TO GO ACROSS . . . .

If you hover at that brink, as I wrote earlier, you will be hammered, thrashed, clawed, pummeled and shredded to bits.  Once God . . . as the Holy Spirit . . . has brought you to Encounter . . . where, you have basically understand and accept that the Gospel is the Truth . . . and Jesus is the ONLY way . . . then, He is going to turn up the heat for you to make your decisive free will choice . . . to take that final leap of faith into the water, to leave the "brink" . . . .

And this is when and where you accept the Holy Spirit . . . into your heart.  Head/mind . . . and heart . . . must both be engaged and submit.  If only one or the other is committed . . . but not both . . . then you will be in a very dangerous situation.  For nothing is more enticing to Evil Spirit . . . than to find a soul who's mind and head are convicted . . . but their heart isn't . . . and so, Evil Spirit is happy to take over the heart in such a situation . . . and here is where you get demonic religious and spiritual leaders, bearing charisma and powers, drawing on the energy of the crossroads between the road to heaven and the road to hell.

And God, having given you the gift of an encounter with Holy Spirit, where you are able to relatively well recognize the Truth . . . YET YOU RESIST . . . and do NOT cross over . . . but start looking back . . . . Well, He does not take kindly to this . . . as it is a type of blaspheming the Holy Spirit . . . .

So . . . at some point, yes, while I will say that IF YOUR ARE HIS, He will not lose you . . . AT THE SAME TIME . . . you DO also have to make the choice . . . to accept His Way . . . and commit in your heart . . . along with your head . . . .

This doesn't mean that you won't still make mistakes and remain a wretch and a sinner.  But now you are saved . . . and in the fold . . . and your sins and mistakes will begin to lesson and have less and less draw on you . . . and you will begin to only crave and yearn for that which is holy and righteous . . . .

Whereas, if you don't make the choice and use your speck of free will to finally leave the old self and old world behind . . . but still generally believe Jesus is the only way . . . . you will not have access to that renewing, regenerating grace and protection which is afforded Believers . . . the promises . . . . And you will be left to the wiles and wicked "mercies" of the devil and his many minions . . . . And if you continue in that state, without ever repenting and accepting the Lord . . . though you may even believe in Him . . . . Well, you are not meet for the Kingdom . . . and you will be torn to shreds.  You will either get possessed . . . commit suicide . . . murder . . . and be party to all manner of foul and filthy affronts to His Holy Name . . . and Person . . . . .

Oh . . . there is so much to say on all of this . . . where the rubber meets the road . . . where the separation occurs . . . there at the crossroads . . . where you must indeed make your choice . . . having accepted in the head, now to accept in the heart . . . .

It looks like cross . . . . It starts in the mind, in the head . . . a line goes down . . . then connects to your heart . . . so head and heart are connected AND IN UNITY . . . no longer double minded . . . with a purpose single to the glory of God . . . THEN . . . with your outstretched hands . . .  you will begin to DO . . . to act, to work . . . in and for the Kingdom fields of harvest . . . . .

Exodus 33 13-19
13 Now therefore,I pray thee,if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

14 And he said,My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

15 And he said unto him,If thy presence go not with me,carry us not up hence.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated,I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17 And the LORD said unto Moses,I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

18 And he said,I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

19 And he said,I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
